Stupid Love

Gazing into those stormy blue eyes, I wondered if they always matched his shirt or if they darkened with my attempt to resist his charm. I couldn’t help but reflect on why we were still at this after everything that had happened. Lost in the moment, we shared a connection that made the world fade away—two souls entwined in a bustling store, where the chaos became a distant hum. It’s a love that allows us to forget logic and cast aside worries, making life’s uncertainties feel light when we’re together.

In the midst of this intense, exhilarating experience, I often pondered what it truly meant to be in love like this. Outsiders might dismiss it as foolish, a reckless infatuation fated to burn out quickly. They don’t understand what it feels like to love someone so deeply that, despite the odds stacked against us, we always find our way back to each other—no matter the obstacles in our path.

Almost a year later, we stand here, and it’s evident that this love hasn’t fizzled out; instead, it has grown stronger. It’s a perplexing phenomenon that has me questioning—what makes some love different from the rest? Perhaps it lies in those rare moments when you find someone who can truly be your everything.
The ancient Greeks famously classified seven distinct types of love, each with its own unique traits and nuances. There’s Eros, the passionate love; Philia, the deep friendship; Storge, the familial love; Agape, the selfless love; and Ludus, playful and flirtatious love. What if, in finding that extraordinary person, you could experience all seven forms of love in harmony?

So perhaps this “stupid love” is not so stupid after all. Maybe we label it that way out of jealousy—longing for a connection that others have yet to find. Perhaps it reflects the rarity of discovering a kindred spirit with whom to navigate the complexities of life, love, and everything that lies between.

This love transcends conventions and breaks through barriers. It’s a wild abandon that invites vulnerability, allowing us to embrace our authentic selves despite the insecurities lurking beneath the surface. It’s about pulling each other closer, even while facing the chaos of life’s unpredictability together.

When you find someone who embodies all these types of love, recognizing the complexity enriches the intricate bond you share. No longer confined to traditional definitions, we change what it means to truly connect with another person.

Maybe it’s time we acknowledge that “stupid love” deserves respect. It invites exploration, questions, and revelations that light the path for our intertwined lives. Why should we settle for anything less than everything? Perhaps, through this journey, we’re meant to learn, grow, and realize that love can take on many forms—each beautiful and worthy of recognition.
